AT&T Announces Network Improvement for Mooresville Area

In an effort to bring improved mobile broadband coverage and voice performance to its customers in Mooresville, AT&T has completed initiatives relating to enhancing the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile broadband network in Mooresville.  This network improvement is part of AT&T's planned $20 billion investment in its wireless and wireline networks in 2011.

The network enhancement adds new layers of frequency, also known as "carriers," to two cell sites in the Mooresville area. This will enable AT&T to manage available spectrum more efficiently and increase mobile broadband capacity.

The area has been experiencing a constant rise in the demand for mobile broadband services. The expansion will help the company to manage this ever-growing demand by allocating more network resources for its mobile broadband network. The expansion in quality high-speed mobile broadband service is expected to contribute to the area’s economic growth.

“The availability of quality high-speed mobile broadband service can be a critical component to any community's efforts to attract economic investment and ultimately jobs. AT&T's commitment to improve the wireless experience makes Mooresville an even better place to live, work or start a business. This investment is in keeping with our goal of providing the benefits of a small town and the amenities of a large city. We couldn't be happier with their decision to invest in Mooresville,” Mooresville Town Council President George Watkins commented in a statement.

AT&T invested more than $225 million in its wireless and wireline networks from 2008 to 2010 in the greater Indianapolis area and nearly $925 million statewide. This month, AT&T also announced upgrades to its wireless network to enhance coverage in Carmel and adjacent I-465, along I-69 in Fishers, and in Greenwood and Johnson County.

“AT&T is committed to investing in our customer experience in Mooresville and across the state. Thanks to the leadership in Mooresville, the city continues to be a place where companies look to grow and expand. We hope our capital investment will help strengthen their economic development efforts,” AT&T Indiana President George S. Fleetwood noted in a statement.

AT&T recently announced that hopes to acquire T-Mobile USA. This acquisition is expected to further strengthen and expand AT&T’s network in Indiana. If approved, this deal will enable the company to expand the next generation of mobile broadband – 4G LTE – from our current plan of 80 percent of the U.S. population to more than 97 percent.

Recently, AT&T was awarded the Frost & Sullivan 2010 Product Leadership of the Year Award in Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Services North America, recognized for its business continuity services features and functionality, innovation, acceptance in the marketplace, customer value, and quality. This award is based on Frost & Sullivan's recent research of CSP BC/DR strategies and portfolios, in which the CSP that best fulfills the role is AT&T.
