Quantance Raises $11 Million to Expand Ultrafast 4G Product Line

Quantance Inc., manufacturer of the industry's fastest power supply for 4G mobile devices, has raised $11 million in Series C funding.

Investors include TD Fund, Granite Ventures, InterWest Partners and DoCoMo Capital.

Officials with Quantance said that this funding will be used to expand the company’s family of power management products, including ultrafast power supplies for 4G devices.

Company officials said that the funding will also support extension of the company's intellectual property into next-generation products serving broader markets, and enable Quantance to grow its employee base by at least 50 percent this year.

"We are all looking for longer battery life and better data performance from our mobile devices. To achieve this, a power supply must constantly adapt to deliver power only when it is needed, maximizing both performance and economy," said Vikas Vinayak, CEO and co-founder of Quantance, in a statement.  “Yet, batteries and power supplies have not kept up with the consumer's voracious appetite for accessing mobile content and applications when and where they want them. Some generate voltage efficiently, others generate it quickly – but none can do both simultaneously,” said Vinayak.

He said that Quantance's ultrafast power supply bridges that divide to deliver the full promise of 4G wireless and enable the next generation of computer-intensive mobile and server processing.

Eric Zimits, managing director at Granite Ventures said that Quantance is a performance leader in a booming market that is forecast to consume 10 billion devices over the next eight years.

"We look forward to seeing Quantance's patented technology begin to appear in many leading-edge 4G devices. We are also excited to help the company broaden its reach into other markets where we see even greater potential," said Zimits.

MobilityTechzone in February reported that to improve the performance of power amplifier (PA) for 3G and 4G data communication, Quantance has launched the Q1005 Power Management Controller for radio frequency (RF) Pas.

Quantance has patented several RF and DC power management innovations that are the basis of its mobile power amplifier power management technology. This power management technology is also known as q Boost technology.
