Openet Helps LightSquared Deliver Real-Time Subscriber Controls to Partner Companies

Openet, the leading provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications and media service providers, announced a partnership with LightSquared, nation’s first wholesale-only integrated 4G-LTE wireless broadband and satellite network, to deliver real-time subscriber controls to partners.

Under the terms of the partnership, Openet provides its Convergent Mediation and Convergent Charging offerings to LightSquared's Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The partnership also supports Openet service offering to the operator's growing base of customers.

LightSquared will be able to provide real-time subscriber controls to each of its partners regardless of the complexity of the service offering. Openet’s service provides the wholesale network with a flexible software system that can manage a high level of complexity and scale.

“Partnering with Openet allows us to not only provide a unique set of services and reduce complexity for our partners, but also differentiates us as a next-generation network service provider,” said Mahmood Mizra, VP Client Operations at LightSquared, in a statement.

“The increased demand for data on an array of devices required a partner who could support our customers' current and future business needs in a flexible, intelligent way,” Mizra added. “Openet's offerings enable a robust and comprehensive portfolio of solutions that are unmatched in the market today.”

LightSquared chose Openet after considering its proven performance in the market, track record of service and innovative software portfolio, according to company officials.

By offering real-time subscriber controls to partners, LightSquared will give these companies the ability to differentiate via personalized plans. Partners that benefit from these services include a broad range of companies including wireless carriers, national retailers, wireline providers and device manufacturers

Niall Norton, CEO of Openet, said, “We believe that LightSquared will alter the wireless market landscape and pave the way for a new generation of products and services in North America. Openet is thrilled to be part of the LightSquared phenomena.”

The robust, best-of-breed, solutions for Mediation and Online Charging are a perfect complement to enable LightSquared to rapidly realize their vision and vault the US broadband industry forward, Norton added.

Recently, Openet announced the launch of Intelligent Video Management Solution that incorporates video management into holistic network policy.
