German Service Provider Inexio Deploys DWDM Technology from ADVA

Inexio, a service provider in southwestern Germany, reportedly has deployed so-called “Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing,” or “DWDM” technology, based on the ADVA’s FSP 3000 platform, shown below right.

Established in 2007, inexio KGaA operates its own next-generation optical fiber-based telecommunications network in southwestern Germany, Luxemburg and eastern France.

The technology has significantly increased the transmission capacity of inexio telecommunications backbone and has equipped the service provider with an Ethernet- and MPLS-based network capable that has the ability to address all the needs of its customers.

The new network is providing inexio with more transmission capacity that has grown from 2.5 to 320Gbits. But this increase in capacity does not come at a huge price as the cost for implementation and operation of the new network is barely more than that of the previously leased and managed SDH, or Synchronous Digital Hierarchy, connection.

The service provider also appreciates the fact that the ADVA Optical Networking platform was implemented quickly and easily, and their employees were able to operate it effortlessly only after a few days of training.

“The future belongs to innovative Ethernet- and MPLS-based networks. We are firmly convinced of that, and our own next-generation network is a prime example,” said David Zimmer, general partner of inexio.

His company finds ADVA Optical Networking to be an extremely reliable, flexible partner and is currently planning several new network segments that will be deployed based on ADVA Optical Networking’s solutions.

According to Christian Cehovin, vice president, sales for Central & Eastern Europe at ADVA Optical Networking, inexio is very successful because it readily opts for future-proof technologies.

“The use of DWDM technology based on the ADVA FSP 3000 guarantees extreme scalability, reliability and efficient operation, regardless of the applications and protocols deployed. inexio customers benefit tremendously as a result,” he added.
