VocalTec and Runcom Join Forces for Integrated WiMAX VoIP Solution

VocalTec Communications Ltd., a provider of carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions, and the end-2-end WiMAX system solutions provider Runcom Technologies, have integrated their WiMAX VoIP solution at an upcoming conference.  
 
Both the companies would be joining forces for the provisioning of this joint offering, which will help service providers to benefit from enhanced voice services in the emerging telecom markets.
 
Yair Golan, vice president of marketing and business development at VocalTec, said that the joint solution will allow operators to provide reliable, competitive and quality services to their subscribers at affordable cost.
 
“Runcom has the leading technology, serving Fixed and Mobile WiMAX communications and we feel that our joint solution is highly suited to the needs of service providers in emerging telecom markets,” Golan added.
 
Nowadays, WiMAX providers are looking to enrich their service offerings by introducing VoIP services, in addition to the existing data services. This is particularly necessary while maintaining a more viable business case for WiMAX, VocalTec officials said.
 
Both the companies’ packaged solution will facilitate in the delivery of both broadband as well as voice services to remote areas, where traditional access is unavailable, thereby also ensuring interoperability and ease of deployment.
 
In addition, this WiMAX VoIP solution also enables service providers to effectively provide high quality VoIP services to their subscribers at a low cost.
 
VocalTec’s Essentra products enable the provision of end-to-end VoIP services for both centralized as well as distributed WiMAX networks. The company’s solutions support a variety of protocols, such as SIP, Megaco/H.248, MGCP and H.323, and also incorporate key elements of IP Multimedia Subsystem architecture.
 
“We see a good opportunity for fixed and mobile WiMAX growth in emerging markets,” Guy Givoni, vice president of sales at Runcom, said. “We value VocalTec's experience and technology, and look forward to rapidly deploying our joint solution, allowing service providers to benefit from enhanced Voice services.”
 
Runcom’s comprehensive WiMAX portfolio enables the deployment of many desired applications, such as mobile Triple Play, mobile consumer and enterprise broadband access, corporate VPNs, toll quality telephony and hotspot coverage extension. The company’s outdoor as well as indoor CPEs are standalone WiMAX CPE devices, which integrate all required WiMAX digital and radio components within a single unit, thereby facilitating operators to quickly and effortlessly deploy IP-based broadband wireless data, voice and video services.
 
Some of Runcom's offerings include base stations, ASN gateways, NOC and a variety of high-end terminals, such as WiMAX Voice and Video phones and handsets, which comply with the IEEE802.16e-2009 standard for WiBro and Mobile WiMAX applications.
