InfoSonics Corporation is launching a new and updated version of its “verykool s757,” a cross between a smartphone and tablet that the company believes will prove even more popular than the original.
“Customer feedback to our predecessor verykool s757 inspired us to design our next-generation crossover: the verykool s758,” said the company’s president and CEO Joseph Ram.
The device “enables users to connect to the Internet via their service provider and browse the web, while still having all the capabilities of a wireless phone,” Ram explained.
The verykool s758 is now available in two versions, one with a single SIM for operator customers, and a dual SIM version designed for the open market. With an approximate price of $249, the product is more affordable than most smartphones and tablets on the market – which is a plus considering it has the capabilities of both devices packed into one.
“We still believe there are many consumers in emerging markets who do not have personal computers and can benefit from a crossover product like the s758 to bridge the technology divide,” Ram added.
Notable features of the s758 are in the wide range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, WAP, JAVA, GPS and USB port, as well as a built-in FM radio and MP3 music player.
This newer version of the verykool builds greatly on the success of InfoSonic’s original, with more options and features that are currently in demand by both smartphone and tablet users. The device is designed to be all-inclusive and highly capable, with a more “gentle” interface, says Ram.
“We made a number of important improvements. The s758 is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor and the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system with its refined and evolved user interface to facilitate a personalized mobile experience. We improved its ergonomic feel and design with more gentle curves and enlarged the capacitive touch screen to 5.15 inches,” Ram explained. “It also has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video conferencing, expendable external storage of up to 32GB and a multitude of connectivity and media features.”
