Elliptic Technologies announced that ST-Ericsson selected its tVault HDCP solution to support the Wi-Fi Miracast wireless technology on the NovaThor L8540 platform for smartphones and tablets, Elliptic announced in a statement.
The tVault HDCP supports the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection 2.2 (HDCP 2.2) specification and is integrated will all major Miracast stacks, including Android.

Miracast is a peer-to-peer wireless screencast standard, allowing users to mirror screens on smartphones, smart TVs, tablets, computers and projectors. The ST-Ericsson NovaThor family brings application processing, a high-speed mobile broadband modem and connectivity programs together in a single package.
The NovaThor L8540 contains a dual-core 1.85 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, and an Imagination PowerVR SGX544 GPU clocking in at 500MHz and an LTE/HSPA+/TD-HSPA modem on a 28nm die. The L8540 can support 1080p video, displays up to 1920x1200 pixels at 60 frames per second, and a 20-megapixel camera.
The package includes pre-integrated connectivity with Bluetooth, GNSS (GPS+GLONASS), FM, WLAN, WiFi Direct and NFC.
