There is very little doubt that people are absolutely in love with the tablet. If there was any ever doubt that the device was gaining in popularity, then you need only to look at new reports that show tablet ownership numbers have doubled year-over-year. Samsung certainly doesn’t need to be convinced of this fact, as the company announced the launch date and prices for its Galaxy Tab 3 line.
Among the tablets that are rolling out under the Galaxy 3 tablet banner is the first Intel-powered Android tablet that has been made available in the United States. The Intel tablet is the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch. This is Samsung’s attempt to capture a customer base that badly wants a tablet that has a huge screen so that they can use it as an incredibly mobile laptop computer. The Galaxy Tab 10.1-inch tablet is expected to sell for $399. Samsung is also rolling out a smaller screened eight-inch Galaxy Tab 3 powered by the Samsung Exynos processor. That smaller tablet is expected to retail for $299. The final Galaxy Tab 3 will boast a seven-inch screen with a Marvell processor and a $199 price tag.
All three of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 3 tablets will be available for pre-order tomorrow, June 25, and will officially be released on July 7. The models in this line sold in the U.S. will be Wi-Fi only and will not have cellular service. These tablets, which were announced earlier this spring, take quite a bit of their design look and feel from the Galaxy S4 smartphones. The Galaxy Tab 3s that sport seven- and eight-inch screens especially look like bigger S4s.
The 10.1-inch screen tablet is the one getting the most press these days. Intel powered smartphones and tablets have surfaced overseas but haven’t really been seen in the U.S. because of the lack of compatibility with LTE services. Since the tablet will only have Wi-Fi capabilities, that won’t be an issue with this device.
