Global digital media company AccuWeather has continued its partnership with HTC to provide weather data to the HTC weather app, which has been integrated as part of HTC’s Sense UI, which is featured heavily on its Android devices. To further showcase this integration, AccuWeather has once again made an appearance in the latest version of Sense, dubbed “Sixth Sense,” alongside HTC’s new flagship, the One (M8).
AccuWeather has been providing weather content to HTC smartphone users around the world since 2008.
"We couldn't be more pleased to continue our collaboration with HTC on their new HTC One (M8)," said Steven Smith, chief digital officer for AccuWeather, in a statement. "HTC has a history of creating popular, award-winning smartphones like this new flagship device. We are proud to be their weather data provider on the HTC One (M8) and other HTC smartphones used worldwide. It is truly a testament to the importance of accurate and reliable global weather information that allows users to make decisions that help improve their lives."
HTC was the first smartphone maker to use AccuWeather’s robust API to display weather data on its devices. HTC device users, especially those who managed to pick up a One (M8) on release, have instant access to AccuWeather’s trusted weather information, which includes timely weather news and videos, as well as hourly and extended forecasts.
The latest version of Sense is currently only available on this year’s follow up to 2013’s potential game changer, the HTC One. However, a number of HTC’s latest smartphones, including the original One, are expected to receive this update in the coming months.
The HTC One (M8) is HTC’s latest flagship smartphone. It boasts a five-inch 1080p IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM and dual rear cameras for improved overall imaging performance.
