NewNet Communication Technologies recently released information regarding its move to enhance its WiMAX product portfolio in order to reach out to new and untapped market segments. NewNet Communication Technologies provides customers with an extensive suite of innovative solutions for advanced range of mobile and fixed line networks.

In a release, Ron Pyles, CEO and president of NewNet, said that, “We are going to maximize the potential of the WiMAX technology and product portfolio. WiMAX is a field proven technology and there are multiple emerging growth industries that require the quick deployment and attractive cost efficiencies inherent in WiMAX. We will aggressively pursue these emerging growth market segments including innovative Smart Grid solutions and next generation public safety networks.”

He added, “We also recognize that there is growing global demand for high quality, cost effective wireless and mobile broadband solutions that have a fast time to market, and we are very well positioned to exploit this significant market opportunity.”

In addition to announcing its plans to expand the WiMAX product portfolio, the company said that the WiMAX product portfolio will also be instrumental in the establishment of a Telecom Infrastructure Business Unit which will be headed by Scott Morrison, former member of the Nokia Siemens Networks WiMAX team.

Ovum Principal Analyst Daryl Schoolar said that, “The market should see NewNet's WiMAX acquisition as a positive sign. This acquisition is a vote of confidence by the vendor in this 4G technology. Applications still remain for WiMAX deployments such as DSL replacement and specific industry vertical applications like security monitoring. For companies looking to deploy WiMAX, NewNet's acquisition will provide them with another committed supporter of this technology.”

The company has built a strong reputation and market position with a number of successful business acquisitions and through strategic investment initiatives which effectively address the needs of its customers.

Scott Morrison, EVP and president of the Telecom Infrastructure business unit, said that, “The team and I are very pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of the NewNet organization and contribute to the evolution of the WiMAX technology and product portfolio. NewNet gains a strong position in the WiMAX market with this product portfolio. We will harness the expertise of our highly skilled team to revitalize this proven 4G solution and become a major provider of end to end WiMAX solutions in the market.”
