Colombia's UNE Selects Convergys to Support 4G Services

Looking to support its innovative 4G services in real-time, Colombia’s UNE has selected Convergys, the company has announced.

Convergys’ convergent platform was able to demonstrate a solution with flexibility and the ability to handle the complexity of real-time convergent services, which UNE required. The flexible platform can accommodate any new service like 4G-LTE, support convergent service requirements in real-time, and help UNE speed its offers to market. Integrating well with UNE’s objective architecture model, which includes CRM, provisioning and enterprise resource planning software, the Convergys’ solution also provides proven revenue assurance, a must-have for providers offering real-time services.

“UNE has a clear strategy for driving future growth by offering its customers compelling new 4G services, which Convergys real-time capabilities can intelligently support,” said Bob Lento, President, Convergys Smart Revenue Solutions, in a company press release. “The 4G market offers real opportunities for operators to monetize services if they have the right BSS support.”

Enabling mobile devices to exchange data at 100 megabits/second, a significantly faster data speed than is currently available on 3G networks, UNE is among a handful of providers worldwide – and the first in Latin America – to launch its 4G network over LTE Advance. For the telecoms, cable, satellite, broadband and utilities markets, Convergys develops and implements smart revenue solutions. With the help of Convergys’ “Solve and Evolve” approach, providers can have the tools to transform to the changing world, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company entered into a group-wide framework agreement with E.ON, which allows E.ON IT to leverage the extensive portfolio of advanced technology solutions from Convergys that are available within E.ON. Intelligent technology solutions from Convergys will help E.ON IT improve rating and billing processes and help drive its customer experiences. E.ON IT is the IT division of E.ON AG, a privately held power and gas company.
