Five Star Equities, a market research company, recently released the results of a study they did of Alcatel-Lucent and InterDigital Inc, to see how their outlook was toward the 4G boom.
Any time new technology gains traction, it's easy to see the result on related companies' bottom lines. As 4G LTE networks are now becoming the norm and every provider is spending a lot of resources making sure their networks are fully operational, it brings a shift in affiliated sectors like phone manufacturers, components used inside of the devices and so on.
Alcetel-Lucent and InterDigital are major players in the cellphone industry, producing chips and components for systems used in the deployment of 4G networks. According to recent surveys, the 4G expansion is booming in countries such as the US, Korea and Japan. It's no wonder the results now show companies like these two hardware makers are in turn seeing positive results from this switch.
Just like tablet makers saw their prospects go up after the iPad, and television manufacturers always try to bring in new technologies like flat screen TVs and 3D, any large technology gap generates revenue as people switch to the latest and greatest.
Results show that Alcatel-Lucent provided new solutions allowing businesses to adapt to these new networks, and enabling higher speed communication solutions. They also helped them integrate more tools to this new bandwidth, including instant messaging, data sharing, voice calls and video collaboration.
Meanwhile, InterDigital owns several useful patents related to 4G and LTE technologies, allowing them to leverage this transition to the higher speed network and provide solutions and services based on the technology they created. Both companies have taken advantage of their resources and skills in order to fill a need in this new industry, adapting easily to the booming 4G market.
