TeleCommunication Systems Expands Secure the Edge Portfolio with Mobile Security Apps, Services

TeleCommunication Systems (TCS), a provider of reliable and secure mobile technology, has expanded its Secure the Edge portfolio. The firm has added tools called Security Broker and Secure Multimedia Communications to the suite, which focuses on mobile broadband apps and services for verification, authentication, and notification.

With more and more organizations encouraging employees to work remotely, providing their workers with mobile devices, and allowing employees to use their own mobile devices in the workplace, security risks increase along with the number of access points. However, Juniper Research indicates that less than five percent of workplace smartphones and tablets have third-party security software installed.

TCS, which offers navigation services for Telefónica subscribers throughout Latin America, claims its Secure the Edge suite provides telecommunications carriers with the ability to offer organizations secure, reliable communication solutions with location-based tools. These tools verify mobile broadband connections with organizations cloud-based networks to ensure security.

Security Broker offers multi-level authentication for those who automatically connect to a carrier’s network in order to access corporate networks. The service is offered as a premium product through mobile carriers and partners offering authentication services.

Further, Secure Multimedia Communications encrypts voice, video and data for any mobile broadband device. This is an end-to-end solution offered to enterprises and government agencies via mobile operators.

The Secure the Edge portfolio was first unveiled in February, with the Secure Location and Secure Mobile Alerts solutions.

The Secure Location offering verifies a device’s location for security purposes, while Secure Mobile Alerts offers secure and timely delivery of vital information before, during and after an emergency occurs. This allows mobile users in national, regional, campus or local environments to receive geo-targeted mass notifications.

“The TCS Secure the Edge portfolio leverages our mobility expertise, precise location and application mobility platforms and encryption to augment existing mobile device management deployments with enhanced security and flexibility," said Jay Whitehurst, senior vice president of the TCS commercial software group.
