Major wireless provider Verizon announced today that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE will be available exclusively on its network soon. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE is an update to the popular Droid Incredible, released way back in April of 2010, featuring a number of significant improvements over its predecessor.
Obviously, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE supports Verizon’s ever-expanding 4G LTE network, meaning faster data speeds as well as increased battery demand; the phone’s 1700 mAh removable battery will hopefully be up to the task.
Beats Audio is another major feature of the new Droid Incredible, a feature which can also be found on HTC’s flagship One X.
As for more basic specs, the phone will feature a 4-inch super LCD qHD display, bucking the big-screen trend while still providing a perfectly serviceable area to work with. Furthermore, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE will sport a 1.2 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, again aiming more for the lower high end of the market.
The Droid Incredible’s camera is another feature that can be found on the top-end One X. The rear-facing 8-megapixel shooter boasts autofocus and LED flash as well as a back-illuminated sensor, f/2.2 aperture and 28mm lens. HTC’s Video Pic software will also allow for simultaneous HD video recording and photo capture.
Of course, the Droid Incredible also features a front-facing camera for video chatting.
The Incredible will come running the latest version of Android – 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich – with HTC’s Sense 4.0 user interface running over top. Fans of older versions of Sense may be at a loss with the latest version as it largely eschews the look of its predecessors but the positive press it has received should allay any doubts.
No pricing or exact release date is available for the Droid Incredible 4G LTE yet but Verizon says it will be released "in the coming weeks."
