Qualcomm Announces Alienware Getting Killer Wireless-N 1202

Among those gamers who love to do the majority of their gaming on a laptop computer, the Alienwareline has long been a fanboy favorite. Of course, Alienware is trying to become more than just a gaming laptop software platform and the line took a big step towards that goal with the announcement by Qualcomm, that Alienware will be the first line of laptops that will include the Killer Wireless-N 1202 high-performance Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth.

There have been plenty of indicators that where laptop technology goes from here will be highly consumerdriven as they try and keep up with everything that the tablets are able to do these days. Certainly the KIller Wireless-N fits into the category of being trotted out as a way to try and keep the consumers interested in what is out there for laptops. Of course, while this new hookup will help users go with Alienware laptops when they want to do other things than just game, gaming should be markedly improved with this upgrade as well.

According to Qualcomm, adding the Killer Wireless-N 1202 high-performance Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth capabilities to the line of Alienware laptops will mean even better performance when executing difficult maneuvers in a wide variety of games. The new addition is expected to be able to help gamers by automatically classifying and prioritizing gaming, video and audio data.

"Alienware continues to be the leader in performance laptops and we appreciate that its customers are used to getting the best gaming experience possible," said Mike Cubbage, director of business development, networking business unit, Qualcomm Atheros. "The Killer Wireless-N 1202 will continue the tradition of delivering a superior gaming and real-time communication experience for Alienware laptop users by providing the best in online application performance, intelligence and control to ensure that critical online applications get the bandwidth and priority they need, when they need it."

The Advanced Stream Detect technology, which is a major part of this new Qualcomm Atheros tech identifies and prioritizes all of the network traffic and make sure that high data applications such as games get the priority when it comes to connectivity.
