Yougetitback Receives Patents for Mobile Device Recovery and Tracking

Finding a better way to gain peace of mind, when dealing with the possibility of losing your mobile device, is only increasing as mobile devices get more expensive. Apple has long had an application called “find my iPhone” that is geared towards helping iPhone users not only locate their phones, but deactivate it remotely should they think it has fallen into the wrong hands. Of course, if you are not the owner of an iPhone then you don’t have the same kind of peace of mind. That is just one of the reasons why there is a market for most software of that kind. Irish company, Youbetiback is just the latest in what will undoubtedly be a long line of companies looking to make it easier for people to find their lost or stolen mobile devices and alter their usage if possible.

This startup company was recently granted United States patents that have deal with the systems and methods of detecting a mobile device that has been lost or stolen. Those patents also cover ways in which the owners of these mobile devices might be able to alter how the devices work. This could mean deactivating it completely, or simply canceling the use of data if the device has been signed up to a 3G or 4G plan.

What seems to make Yougetitback’s software different from what is already out there, is that the user will be able to monitor exactly how the device is being used. The software will also conceivably be able to instruct the mobile device to enter a “surveillance” mode that can actually monitor not just a general area of where the phone is, but take pictures of its surroundings and who might be using it.

Yougetiback sells its particular batch of technologies to insurance and warranties companies. Because of this, there seems to be a better chance to get its tech distributed on a wider level. The company has managed to add some real bigwigs to its client list, including Best Buy, Verizon, Global Warranty Group and Carphone Warehouse.
