With most frontiers of consumer technology crossed, the search is on for the next media innovations that people can really sink their teeth into. SocialmediaCRMs are one type of innovation that are popping up every now and then, and relatively recently NPRwas given a gift in order to seek a boost to their digital efforts. The #awesummit is one get together that has taken it upon itself to find the next great media innovations. The Knight Foundation has put this particular summit together for several years and the foundation has announced several different projects that are centered around media innovation.
Among the projects that were announced by Knight, was something called the SuperPAC app. This particular application was created at MIT and when it is finished will allow people to capture audio of political ads off of their television or radio. The app will then be able to tell the user who paid for the advertisement and where it is running. Information about the organization will also be made available and users will be able to comment on the Internet.
Anotherproject that is set to be released later this year is something called the Truthteller from the Washington Post. This particular app is geared toward finding out whether a political candidate’s statements are true far quicker than we can do it today. The Washington Post will use the application to connect several video, transcription and search technologies. This combination will allow the live factchecking of video and audio streams on a much quicker level. The Post is expected to debut this particular application in the fall at the Presidential debates.
Wired.com is working on a Wordpress module that will make it much easier for users to give feedback, log error reporting and form translations right inline with the actual content that is being posted. Wired.com is hoping this particular project will make it all the easier for users to interact, not just read, different news organizations that are built on the Wordpress framework.
