Poynt Corp Tops 10M Android Users, Releases Android 4.0 Update

Poynt Corporation, a company that deals in mobile local search and advertising, recently reached a significant new milestone, surpassing 10 million users on the Poynt Android Platform. By way of celebration, the company has released a new and improved version of the Poynt platform on Android optimized for Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

"With a 300-percent increase in our Android user base year-over-year, Android is our fastest growing and most popular device platform," said Andrew Osis, CEO at Poynt Corp. "The overwhelming success of Poynt for Android demonstrates that users expect an engaging, accurate local search experience."

This new version of Poynt for Android introduces a bold new look to the app with several key user interface enhancements, as well as a number of more subtle technical improvements. The new features, inspired by feedback from the Poynt Android Beta launched in the summer, include improved battery life and network bandwidth, in addition to a redesigned tiled dashboard and weather display.

The update also adds additional settings for greater customization.

This Android update follows closely on the heels of the reboot of Poynt for iPhone. The iPhone update took place in September in time for the release of the iPhone 5 and the iOS 6 update. The new iPhone version features a more intuitive and efficient user interface, drawer navigation for easy access to Poynt's search verticals, a like/dislike button, a weather icon with five-day weather forecast, and a simple "tap to change" location bar.

Poynt is a convenient, time-saving GPS-enabled mobile local search and advertising platform that connects consumers to local offers, businesses, events, restaurants, movie theaters, gas prices and weather information in one mobile app. Being location based, Poynt is able to provide quick access to what users need when they need it.

The app goes beyond simple local area discovery as well, allowing users to view movie trailers, buy movie tickets, get directions and much more.
