Adtran's Bluesocket vWLAN Brings Home Multiple Awards

ADTRAN has long been one of the world’s leading providers of cloud connectivity, virtual wireless LAN (vWLAN), and enterprise level communication solutions. Now, it appears that the company is finally getting quite a bit of attention for their top of the line offerings.

In particular, the company has recently won a trio of awards for its Bluesocket virtual Wireless LAN – specifically for the solution were given two awards by TMC, with one being presented by the American Business Awards.

The TMC awards were the INTERNET TELEPHONYExcellence Award, as well as a Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award. The American Business Awards honored the vWLAN with a Gold Stevie in the Best New Telecommunications Hardware Product/Service category. All of the awards are geared towards recognizing innovation and leadership in the telecommunications industry.

Mads Lillelund, general manager for ADTRAN's Bluesocket Business Group talked about what the Bluesocket vWLAN means to the enterprise. "ADTRAN's Bluesocket vWLAN is the first and only solution on the market with hypervisor-based control and management, enabling enterprises and large campuses to truly realize unprecedented scalability and simplified operations across their facilities with building-to-building, wireless and wired connectivity," Lillelund said in a statement. "The solution allows customers to continue utilizing their current network access points while also deploying ADTRAN's Bluesocket access points. As a result, customers are able to protect previous investments but also offer a migration path from older access points."

Bluesocket’s biggest changes to a WLAN is that instead of being tied to one particular mission on one particular device, the vWLAN can scale and more easily manage wireless networks thanks to the use of a hypervisor. This unique approach means that it does not need a bunch of hardware controllers, which in turn makes the vWLAN more nimble and better suited for the enterprise business world today.
