ADTRAN's ONE Solution Receives 2012 Mobility Tech Zone LTE Visionary Award

ADTRAN, a major provider of next-generation networking solutions, was today honored by TMC and Crossfire Media with the 2012 Mobility Tech Zone LTE Visionary Award for the Optical Networking Edge (ONE) solution.

ADTRAN's ONE allows operators to modernize their network for new LTE services, while avoiding the high costs and network complexity typical of traditional deployments.

“It is a pleasure to recognize ADTRAN with this award. Their contribution toward the future of mobile broadband is noteworthy,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO at TMC, in a statement. “I look forward to more innovation from ADTRAN in the future.”

ONE addresses the capacity bottlenecks typically created by combining high-bandwidth services from homes, businesses and cell sites, by way of packet optical networking innovation. The solution enables service providers to leverage their existing network assets by extending bandwidth efficiencies of the core to the optical edge, metro and middle-mile.

A Web-based service level agreement (SLA) monitoring tool combines each wavelength, Ethernet and OTN switching separation, allowing each type of traffic to be provisioned over a common network infrastructure. Furthermore, the mini-ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) system-on-a-blade provides operators with greater operational flexibility by allowing a network to respond to shifts in traffic and capacity demands more cost effectively.

“ADTRAN has optimized its packet optical technology in order to redefine service delivery and aggregation; essentially blurring the boundaries between access and transport,” said Mano Nachum, packet optical solutions product line manager for ADTRAN’s Carrier Networks Division. “ADTRAN’s innovation is focused on further right-sizing core packet optical technology and uniquely differentiating the products to address current and future services, while speeding up time-to-revenue, eliminating complexity, simplifying operations and reducing overall costs.”

ADTRAN's ONE solution received the 2011 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award from TMC in September, and was also recognized with a 2012 NGN Leadership Award and a 2012 TMC Labs IT Innovation Award in August.
