Motorola Solutions First to Complete Phase 3: Part One Testing with the PSCR

Motorola Solutions, a provider of mission-critical communication solutions and services for enterprise and government customers, recently became the first Public Safety LTE vendor to successfully complete all testing activities part of Phase 3: Part One. Completed by Motorola and Ericsson with the Public Safety Communications Research Program (PSCR) at the Department of Commerce, Boulder Laboratories in Colorado, the testing demonstrated interoperability of the radio access network (RAN) and evolved packet core (EPC) with three major network vendors.

The completion of this testing is an important step toward Motorola becoming an authorized supplier of FirstNet, the nationwide public safety broadband network. The tests focused largely on demonstrating interoperability with other suppliers, which are an important part of allowing public safety personnel to collaborate regardless of agency, jurisdiction or equipment manufacturer.

Motorola also demonstrated conformance and support for public safety standards with the completion of Phase 3: Part One testing.

"The successful completion of PSCR Phase 3 testing clearly demonstrates the continued commitment of Motorola Solutions to deliver industry-leading Public Safety LTE solutions that meet the mission-critical requirements of FirstNet and public safety agencies," said Bob Schassler, senior vice president of Government Solutions at Motorola Solutions, in a statement. "We look forward to continuing to actively work with FirstNet toward the common goal of delivering a nationwide, interoperable broadband network for public safety."

Phase 3: Part One testing was performed on the 700 MHz Band 14 spectrum, supporting broadband for public safety. Motorola was able to support interoperability with S1-Mobility Management Entity (MME) and S1-User interfaces using its RAN and EPC with three network vendors, demonstrating support for open network architecture under 3GPP standards.

In other news, Motorola Solutions' AME 2000 Secure Mobile Solution was recently released, providing federal agencies with secure voice and data communications on a wireless network.

In December, Axis Communications named Motorola Solutions as its 2012 North America City Surveillance Partner of the Year.
