MicroStrategy BI Platform is Incorporated into Astellia's Nova 4G Monitoring Solution

Astellia is a provider of service solutions designed to help mobile operators monitor and manage Quality of Service (QoS) and customer experiences. Their headquarters are in Rennes, France. Astellia was founded in 2000. In 2011 they launched Neptune. It is a high capacity Internet Protocol (IP) probing system that is designed to monitor and optimize mobile broadband networks.

This year, Astellia introduced Nova. It is Astellias’ newest generation of monitoring solutions for multi-technology mobile networks (2G, 3G & 4G). Nova provides operators with the capability of detecting, analyzing, troubleshooting and reporting issues related to network performance, handset behavior and subscriber usage.

Recently, Astellia announced that it has selected MicroStrategy Inc. to leverage the large amount of data that is captured by Nova and bring network intelligence to mobile operators quickly and coherently.

MicroStrategy, Inc. is a business intelligence (BI) software vendor. Its software allows organizations to analyze large amounts of data in order to make good business decisions. The software provides information to business users via the Internet and mobile devices.

Astellia has integrated the MicroStrategy BI Platform into Nova to perform seamless and multi-dimensional analytics. Nova can correlate petabytes of information on network performance, handset behavior, groups of subscribers and mobile applications very rapidly. A petabyte is a unit of information which is equal to one quadrillion bytes.

Dan Kerzner, senior vice president of Mobile at MicroStrategy said, “The MicroStrategy Mobile App Platform enables organizations, including leading telecommunications providers, to build a wide variety of essential mobile apps that deliver workflows, transactions, mobile operations systems access, multimedia, and analytics in compelling customer native apps. Astellia’s Nova solution, developed on the MicroStrategy Mobile platform, is an ideal fit for providing mobile operators with the insights they need to monitor quality of service and improve the customer experience. We’re pleased that MicroStrategy Mobile App Platform is an integral component of the new Nova Monitoring Solution and look forward to the solution being used to move mobile operators towards more profitable networks and services.”

Vice president of products at Astellia added, “Through our relationship with MicroStrategy, we are opening up new horizons to network and customer analytics. We provide mobile operators with high-performance data analysis across multiple data sets. Hereby, we can ensure them to have fast and easy access to key performance metrics in order to make better, data-driven business decisions.”

Nova provides users with a combination of dashboards that are designed to restore key performance indicators (KPI) on the fly. This gives mobile operators enough information so that they can take whatever steps are necessary to keep everything running smoothly. For instance, there are color coded heat maps that can highlight either weak network elements or a group of subscribers who are at risk of churning. This information can be shared by e-mail without losing their interactive functionality. Developed on the MicroStrategy BI Platform, Nova dashboards are very intuitive and user friendly. They convey real-time information to Web browsers and applications on mobile devices.

The dashboards can be customized and personalized. In doing this, managers can run their own dashboards on a tablet and be able to monitor and increase their productivity while on the go. This gives them the ability to monitor the information regardless of where they are and still be able to handle any problems that may arise.
