Sprint Offering Open Enrollment for Device Protection in March

Sprint is taking the initiative to ingratiate itself to its customers in March by offering an “open enrollment” into the company’s device protection program. This particular program allows a customer to get free repairs or replacements to their phone, should it be damaged or stop working through no fault of the customer.

The program is usually offered up front when a person buys a new phone or first signs up for the service. This month, the company is allowing people who are current customers to sign up for the service with no questions asked.

The program, which began on March 1 and runs through March 31, covers a wide variety of issues that might occur. The Total Equipment Protection plan covers any device a customer has purchased through Sprint, including smartphones, broadband cards, tablets, notebooks and netbooks. 

The only caveat of this particular program is that the customer’s device must be operating and in his/her possession.

“Wireless devices are more advanced today and consumers are relying even more on them for their business and everyday needs,” said Jaime Jones, senior vice president, consumer sales for Sprint. “A device protection plan is an affordable way to help ensure devices are protected from expensive replacement costs due to unintentional damage, loss or theft.”

The security plan works to save customers a lot of money in the long run, especially with the high costs of smartphones these days. If a user finds that his/her Samsung Galaxy Note is suddenly not working, s/he’d have to pay as much as $800 dollars to get it replaced.

With this program, as long as the damage was something that occurs in the normal day-to-day use of the phone, they won’t have to pay anything at all.
