Indonesia's Mobile Market Tapped by Trikomsel-Brightstar Joint Venture

Indonesian mobile device retailer, Trikomsel Oke Tbk. (Trikomsel) and Brightstar Corp., a global specialized wireless services distributor, have joined hands to explore the potential opportunities found in Indonesia’s mobile market.

As part of the alliance, Brightstar Trikomsel Pte. Ltd will be focusing on capturing the service provider market by providing a lot of value-added offerings for its customers in the wireless device segment in Southeast Asia and the Indonesian market. The newly incorporated company will also be focusing on providing different supply chain services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), retailers and other operators.

The President and Director of Trikomsel, Sugiono Wiyono Sugialam said that as strategic wireless services such as supply chain optimization and other areas like multi-channel and value-added distribution as well as buy-back and trade-in solutions are fast becoming a priority for the Indonesian market. He added that as Brightstar is a global leader in the above areas and the strategic strategy will bring state-of-the-art global solutions to not only Indonesian, but also foreign customers. He also feels that the new initiatives will create new lines of businesses, through which his company hopes to boost its performance and drive further growth.

Marcelo Claure, chief executive officer of Brightstar Corp, added that as the premier Indonesian wireless distributor and retailer, Trikomsel was the ideal partner for Brightstar. He is hoping to seamlessly integrate Brightstar's robust wireless services, technologies and platforms with Trikomsel's deep market knowledge, in-country execution capabilities and strong customer base.

Brightstar is considered to be the world's largest specialized wireless and services distributor, while PT Trikomsel Oke Tbk is a large Indonesian telecommunication distributor and retailer giant. Okeshop and Global Teleshop are its branded retail chains. Trikomsel received numerous awards just last   year including Forbes 2012 honor for one of the "Top 50 Best of The Best Companies”.

Brightstar Trikomsel Pte. Ltd will be beginning operations within Q2 2013.
