On March 15, 2013, Visiongain released a 138 page report which takes a look at the global tablet market. The main focus of the report is on Apple and how rival tablet companies are devising strategies in an attempt to steal the market share from them. The reports title is ‘Global Tablet Market Report 2013-2018: Will Apple Remain the Incumbent?

Apple has been the leader in the tablet market since 2010. That is when Apple’s first generation iPad hit the market. In the three years that have passed, several other companies have been making tablets. Mostly notably is Samsung, it is just another part of the two company’s rivalry. Google and Microsoft are on board with tablets as well some of the other PC manufacturers.

Apple saw their biggest competition last year. Between 2011 and 2012 Apple’s market share dipped down below the 50 percent mark. Does this mean that the other companies are beginning to get enough of a stronghold to topple Apple as the leading tablet company?

There are 124 tables and charts contained within Visiongain’s 138 page report. If you are interested in acquiring the report or seeing a very small portion of it, you can do so by clicking here. You should know that a single user download of the report will cost around $2,352. Included in the report are global and regional statistics as well as forecasts for the period of 2013-2018. The forecasts are determined in terms of revenue as well as shipments, OS market share and global top five manufacturer market share.

Visiongain also has some additional data in terms of tablet usage for user location, demographics, business use as it compares to personal use and usage times throughout the day. The report also looks at 2013-2018 forecasts for mobile data traffic, tablet data traffic, tablet penetration rates in developing markets and a Samsung tablet shipment forecast.

Visiongain’s report analyzes 20 of the leading companies who offer tablets. The report provides information on tablet demographics and consumer usage. You can also get information on vendor and operator strategies for succeeding in the table market.

Tablet strategy changes every day. This is mostly due to the fact that as more and more people buy tablets, they find different ways to use them and incorporate them in both work and personal worlds. New apps are being developed on a regular basis. The question that this report looks into is how will Apple fare in the next five years? Although they were first company to offer a tablet, they have lost some of the market share. Will this trend continue? Only time will tell. However, rest assured that all the other companies that are producing tablets will continue to forge ahead in an effort to gain that top spot.
