BYOD Buddies Beef Up Security

Webalo has a lot going for it in the world of mobile enterprise management. Having undergone an upgrade in February, the cloud-based, enterprise-to-mobile technology can make company operations a lot easier and more efficient.

The information sent between Webalo devices has so far benefited from the company's home brand of security measures, but when it comes to some of the more sensitive matters that are sent over these lines -- in many cases to employees’ personal devices -- you simply can’t be too careful. This is why Webalo has teamed up with Symantec to provide a recognizable brand of security to the service, and in doing so has netted itself quite an upgrade.

Webalo will now be a card-carrying member of the Symantec Sealed Program. Not only does that put the management app on the radar of potential clients using the Symantec App Center, but Webalo can also boast some improved security features. Encryption, authentication and data loss policies are only a few of the new ways that Webalo will be offering safe transfer of management operations.

“Symantec customers will be able to easily deploy Webalo, which has been integrated and pre-tested to work within their secure workspace with the Symantec Mobile Management Suite,” says Chandra Rangan, the senior director of product marketing in Symantec’s enterprise mobility group. And she’s on the right track as far as why this match makes sense.

This is exactly the situation Symantec’s Mobile Management Suite was made for. Webalo’s business is based on the premise that simplicity eliminates slowdown, saves time and therefore money. A big part of making things simple is the ability to provide for the increasing number of businesses that have either made BYOD company policy or haven’t been able to properly police personal devices being used in the workplace. Symantec’s cross platform cloud based solution for providing security was born from a need to provide for that same market.
