Nokia Teases Next Lumia Device on British TV Spot

Nokia's plight in the smartphone market has been well known for quite some time now. While the iPhone and Android were grabbing up market share over the last couple years, Nokia was one of the companies that was losing out. However, the Finnish handset manufacturer has been fighting back recently, dropping its own Symbian mobile OS in favor of Microsoft's Windows Phone and releasing a number of unique, solid devices.

Indeed, Nokia's Lumia line of Windows phones has, up until now, received its fair share of praise. After all, its high-end devices, like the Lumia 920, feature a unibody polycarbonate body that is both durable and eye catching, as well as one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, with image stabilization and low light shooting capabilities that outstrip event the iPhone's camera.

Still, Nokia has been relying on this same design language for about two years now — practically millennia in technology terms — and the recently announced Lumia 928, the Verizon version of the Lumia 920, caught some slack for not innovating much.

However, Nokia is apparently ready to move on. Over the weekend, the company teased an upcoming announcement planned for an event in London on May 14. During a commercial break on British TV, the company aired a short promo that offered a glimpse at the next generation of Nokia smartphones, specifically showing the rear of a device with a rather large camera lens.

According to the Verge, the images shown in the teaser look very similar to leaked photos of a device called "Catwalk." If true, this means Nokia's next flagship will sport an aluminum build and will likely set the standard for smartphone camera quality yet again.

Unfortunately, little else is known about the "Catwalk," rumored to be the Lumia 925, but at least we'll only have to wait one more day to find out exactly what Nokia has in store.
