Nvidia Releases New GTX 780 Graphics Card

Nvidia has been enjoying a pretty successful beginning to 2013, and the company wants that momentum to roll on through May. The company recently unveiled its GTX 780 graphics card, which seems as though it might be one of the best affordable cards the company has rolled out. And Nvidia has more than enough reason to want to put out some great graphics, what with the unmasking of its new handheld gaming console.

The Nvidia Shield may not be carrying this particular graphics card just yet, but there is a safe bet that future versions of the device will. Whether or not that promise will be enough to keep the handheld going for long is still anyone’s bet. The GTX 780 is based on the 28nm GK 110 GPU. That GPU is the same one that is currently running the high-end Titan graphics card. The GTX features 2304 CUDA cores and 192 texture units. Both those numbers are at or near the top of the graphics quality index.

This new card will be able to work at 863MHz base and 900MHz Boost. The graphics card is said to contain about 3GB of GDR5 memory and that will be able to run at about 6GHz. This card has the same 250W TDP as the GTX Titan, another good sign considering that the 780 does have a still hefty $649 price tag.

This graphics card also comes with the GTX Titan cooling system, so there won’t be much of a need to go with a custom cooling solution. The best news for all, for both Nvidia and its fans, is that the release of this graphics card leaves AMD in the dust for the present time. The rival company does not currently have an answer to the GTX 780.
