Tango Tangoes its Way into Entertainment with New Dance Partners

Tango, a messaging app that is more than 120 million users strong, has been working hard to form strategic partnerships to benefit its users. In what one Tango representative calls “just the tip of the iceberg,” the company, which, up until now, has largely focused on video, unveiled its first entertainment partnerships. Gameloft, the creators of such mobile games as Ironman 3, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Gangstar Vegas and Dungeon Hunter 4, will be the company developing Tango’s foray into entertainment.

Uri Raz, the co-founder and CEO of Tango called it a “significant moment” for the company in a recent statement, going on to elaborate, “We have married messaging with entertainment, moving us closer to our goal of becoming a destination for family and friends. Using the platform, our members can move beyond messaging to discover and share entertaining content we now offer. We're not only enabling all forms of communication, but promoting rich and meaningful interactions that enhance and drive engagement.”

Tango will also be working with additional developers, including Bubble Gum Interactive.

On its website, Tango requested that potential partners follow a few basic guidelines, such as encouraging “authentic, meaningful interactions among members” and enabling members to “share relevant and expressive content.” For developers, Tango’s audience represents a huge opportunity. According to The Next Web, Tango was inspired by Asia’s Line and Kakao Talk, bringing the eastern approach to North America.

JetPack Jinx for Tango, developed by Bubble Gum Interactive, and Candy Block Breaker for Tango, developed by Gameloft, are both available in to Apple users today. Next month, the games will be made available to Tango’s Android users.

With partners like Gameloft, Tango’s newest venture is certain to be a success. Already boasting an average of 25,000 downloads per day, Tango is poised for massive growth.
