Friendly Technologies is a provider of optimized device management solutions for both fixed and mobile operators. For example, its Friendly Support Center solution helps shorten customer support times while improving subscribers' overall quality of service.
With this role in the mobile industry, it's not surprising that the company recently joined the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), the leading industry forum for developing market-driven, interoperable mobile service enablers.
The OMA — comprised of the worldwide mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies, and content and service providers — defines wireless industry standards with the aim of creating interoperable services that transcend geographical boundaries. Its specifications support billions of new and existing fixed and mobile terminals in a variety of mobile networks.
In April, the OMA elected Gary Jones of Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile as chairman of the OMA board of directors, while Bryan Sullivan of AT&T and Cecilia Corbi of Telecom Italia were elected as vice-chairs.
“Friendly Technologies brings to OMA a deep knowledge of the industry — knowledge that is crucial to the success of OMA’s mission,” stated Seth Newberry, general manager at OMA. “The input and support of industry leaders like Friendly Technologies is what allows the OMA to deliver open specifications that drive interoperability and market reach across devices, geographies and networks.”
As an OMA member, Friendly Technologies will now be able to participate in the group's standards-building process. The company will also be able to further strengthen its position as a mobile device management vendor. Indeed, Friendly's unified solution can accelerate and simplify the development of 4G LTE devices and services, supporting any device type over TR-069 and OMA-DM protocols. This includes fixed and nomadic LTE devices, as well as mobile smartphone devices, with FDD LTE and TDD LTE in any spectrum.
"Many of our WiMAX customers around the world are moving to LTE. Our open and standard-based approach enables smooth migration from WiMAX to LTE networks, as well as accelerating the deployment of greenfield 4G LTE networks," said Nir Ezer, VP of Sales and Marketing at Friendly Technologies.
