Syniverse Acquires MACH

Syniverse has been looking for ways to help deliver innovative services that enhance its mobile customers' experiences. The company believes it may have taken a big step towards that goal with the finalizing of the acquisition of MACH. Syniverse has agreed to pay more than $550 million in order to take over the other company. The new company, made up of the two firms is now able to serve more than 1,500 mobile service providers, ISPs and app developers in almost 200 countries.

The two companies can now offer a more complete suite of solutions that will mean that Syniverse customers will be able to offer more quality in a mobile world that is changing and evolving quite quickly.

Jeff Gordon, president and CEO of Syniverse hailed the merger of the two companies in a recent release where he said, “Unprecedented bandwidth demands alongside mounting business and technical complexities are resulting in significant challenges and opportunities for today’s mobile service providers. This acquisition ensures we have the flexibility to develop advanced solutions that enable mobile service providers to deliver the anywhere, anytime, any-app experiences mobile end users have come to expect.”

Gordon added that the combination of the two companies means that the expertise each had in different parts of the mobile ecosystem will better serve their customers. Among the solutions that are now coming under the Syniverse purview are roaming, messaging and fraud solutions that MACH had specialized in. Former MACH CEO Morten Brøgger who has been folded into the Syniverse management team believes that the combination of the two companies will work because they both have had a laser-like focus when it comes to customer satisfaction in the mobile ecosystem.

While the money has officially changed hands, European regulators won’t actually accredit the transaction until 2014. The two companies will still operate as one while awaiting official approval.
