Movius Executive Talks New Trends

Movius Interactive Corporation has quickly become a global leader in unified communications solutions. It has created some innovative converged messaging solutions, from its voice-to-text solution to its policy of giving subscribers the option to use one mobile device for multiple phone numbers and virtual communications. Movius’ options give users and carriers greater enhanced call utilization in a world where time and efficiency are vital. Georgia-based Movius Interactive Corporation was formerly known as IP Unity Glenayre

“We serve service providers, and we offer them platforms and services to making different from the competition,” Jose Romero, vice president of product strategy and marketing for the Georgia-based company recently told TMC.net. “Our history goes back thirty years; our core is voicemail platform but some of the more sexy and innovative things that we’re doing these are mobile identities where you can have multiple phone numbers on one device.”

Currently available for Android and iOS, the app known as myIdentities Dial Pad, extends a native smartphone application and acts as the central location for end users to make and receive phone calls and text messages for different phone numbers. “There are multiple use cases including the separation of work from personal lines as well as social media accounts, porting a fixed line to a mobile device, getting a temporary number for selling items, or other uses like dating services or roaming,” said Romero.

“There are multiple use cases including the separation of work from personal lines as well as social media accounts, porting a fixed line to a mobile device, getting a temporary number for selling items, or other uses like dating services or roaming.” Romero says the company uses “different” deployment scenarios to provide the service. “We’re launching own cloud services in July, and in Europe, we have a telcom partner who is also offering a cloud service but what we also offer our customers is licensing software so they can launch their own platform within their own network,” said Romero. Movius works with tier one through tier three on the wireless, WiLine and MSO.

“With the explosion in the number of devices such as Smartphones, consumers are increasingly looking to utilise one device for multiple uses. myIdentities Dial Pad application allows end users to separate many personas privately and securely, without the inconvenience of having several devices.”

What other trends is Romero seeing in the world of telecom? “Carriers are trying to differentiate themselves from each other and are trying to avoid becoming a pipe for data so they’re looking for ways to make additional revenue, additional…there are a lot of trends out the area of  IP messaging .  A lot of carriers are trying to offer their own IP sort of competition WhatsApp to BlackberryMessenger, etc. There’s a lot of new and innovative services like RCS that are coming onto the market. What we’re thinking is that carriers should look back to their history and see what they’re really good at and offer new services in that area and make a suitable product.”
