Turkcell Announces Program to Help Teach Young Mobile Developers

Turkcell is a technology and communications company based in Turkey, which recently took steps to rise to the cream of the crop with the announcement of its Corporate Social Responsibility Project. This particular project is geared towards making technological fields like mobile software more attractive to the younger generation. Those who want to get into the program will be trained through the Turkcell portal and will then be able to make mobile applications that are eligible to be used on both the Android and iOS platforms.

Turkey has a goal of growing its mobile application market share to a monstrous $160 billion by the end of 2023. That is an ambitious goal and it appears that the government has figured out that the only way to attain that goal is to help with the preparation.

Turkcell CEO Sureyya Cilliv talked about the program in a recent statement, saying, "In 2012, Turkey's software development exceeded 2.4 billion TL, while exports of software and services were at around 750 million TL reaching 70 countries worldwide. Meanwhile globally, mobile software development is expected to reach 25 billion dollars by the end of 2013, and to triple within 5-6 years. Therefore, creating added value in mobile service is important for sustainable global competition. Ultimately, let's all write the future together so that Turkey can become a pioneer when it comes to developing mobile applications, and have the best qualified engineers worldwide.”

The “Developers of the Future” program will be open to everyone, no matter what the skill level. There will be plenty of training and development for those who are not as confident when it comes to developing applications for the mobile platform. Turkey and Turkcell are adding on some incentives to go through the program by noting that those who complete the program will be given priority when it comes to employment opportunities. This priority will be inside Turkcell and the ecosystem that is aided by these kinds of developers.
