Fujitsu Arrows A 301F Phone Offers a Day's Use in 10 Minutes of Charge

Some days, taking the time to put a charge under a smartphone for a day's use just seems like too much time spent for too little payoff. But with the Arrows A 301F, recently shown off as part of Softbank's biannual showcase event, restocking a phone's batteries for a full day's use may be easier than ever before.

How easy is it to put a day's charge under a Fujitsu Arrows A 301F? According to current reports, it takes just 10 minutes to go from flat to a “full day” of use. That's a pretty impressive charge time, and reports indicate that there are several possibilities to explain the incredibly rapid charging time here, including the efficiency of the processor or the “dedicated” AC adapter that the device uses.

Regardless of what puts the charge in the Arrows A 301F so quickly, the key point is that it does, and the phone itself, meanwhile, scarcely skimps on options for the user. The Arrows A 301F offers up a five inch display showing at 1080p resolution, backed up by a Snapdragon 800 processor, a 13 megapixel camera sensor, and even a fingerprint reader as well as an impressive 2600mAh battery, which can provide three days of use on a full charge. This in turn suggests that a full recharge from dead to full should take about a half-hour.

As for the fingerprint reader, well, that's currently something of a mystery. Fujitsu and Softbank are, at last report, keeping comparatively mum about just what this feature is set to offer, though some uses leap immediately to mind, not least of which is security on par with the iPhone 5s' new fingerprint reader capability. The phone is set to emerge this December in Japan, and there's no word on whether or not the device will make the jump to other markets.

Battery life is a pretty major concern all around, though, and a phone that can take a day's worth of charge in 10 minutes—at that rate, a user could get an hour's use out of less than 30 seconds of charging—is going to mean some pretty exciting things in terms of overall use and battery life. Though it's not exactly clear just how much of that “battery life” is affected in terms of style of use—are we talking three days of talk time here? Streaming video? A mix? It's still a pretty impressive concept, and even assuming a mix of uses only gets one day, the idea of a recharge in 10 minutes is certainly worthwhile.

Either way, however, it's a fairly impressive little device with some unusual features, and that quick-charge capability is no small bonus in its own right. It's likely to see some fairly brisk business, especially from those who use mobile devices heavily, but whether or not it could successfully break into another market—especially the smartphone-saturated North American market—is a concept up for debate.
