200 MB of Free Data for Life for T-Mobile iPad Customers

In March of this year, T-Mobile announced two things of importance. First was its new “Un-Carrier” plan; second, but possibly having more of an impact, was that it would finally sell the iPhone. As soon as the iPhone hit the shelves, it was a bit hit for T-Mobile.

In fact, the Apple smartphones were popular enough to warrant employee blackout dates in September when the new iPhone 5S and 5C smartphones was released to the public. Moving forward, T-Mobile has now said that it will offer the iPad Air and iPad mini.

You will be able to pick one up at a T-Mobile store starting this Friday, November 1, 2013. Both models will come with Wi-Fi + Cellular. Sometime later in the month, T-Mobile will also have the iPad mini with Retina display. This will also feature Wi-Fi + Cellular.

So will the tablets also fall under the category of T-Mobile’s un-carrier plan? Indeed they will. You will be able pick one up starting Friday, either online or at a retail store for as much as zero down. This offer is for qualified customers.

The package comes with 200 MB of free 4G LTE data on a monthly basis. This will hold true for as long as the customer owns their iPad. I find this part a little confusing, however T-Mobile says that this offer will hold true “even if they aren’t yet a T-Mobile customer.” Does this mean that you can buy the iPad from T-Mobile, get 200 MB of free data per month and still not be a customer?

As with T-Mobile’s phones, you do not have to pay for the device upfront. As I mentioned, you can pick up the iPad Air for the introductory offer of zero down and then pay $26.25 for 24 monthly payments. This is for the 16 GB model. That makes the cost of the device $630, but spread out through a two year period.

The price for the iPad mini with Retina display starts with the same zero down and the 16 GB model will cost you 24 equal payments of $22.08. The monthly payments for the iPad mini will go for $17.91. Again, this is for the 16 GB model.

The iPad Air features a 9.7-inch Retina display. It is a new thinner and lighter design. It has been engineered to weigh just one pound. This is because the iPad Air is 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than the fourth generation iPad. It sports a narrower bezel around the borders. This makes the iPad Air dramatically thinner and has the added feature of making content even more immersive.

T-Mobile will also offer a program that will enable customers to make their new iPad even more affordable by applying the trade-in value of an eligible tablet. This will hold true even if you have an old tablet that is Wi-Fi only.
