Telinta Launches Mobile VoIP Softphone for Android, iOS

Mobile VoIP is showing terrific market potential: According to Infonetics Research, the number of global OTT mobile VoIP subscribers increased more than 550 percent in 2012, to over 640 million, and was expected to approach the 1 billion mark by the end of 2013.

Telinta, a Springfield, N.J., provider of hosted switching and billing solutions for VoIP service providers, is hoping to make its mark in this burgeoning market with the launch of TeliGlobe, an easy-to-use mobile softphone app for both IOS and Android devices. Using TeliGlobe, Telinta's service provider customers can grow their businesses by adding a convenient softphone that makes it easier for end users to enjoy the costs savings of VoIP from their mobile device.

Ease of use is an important part of any deployment, and a main goal of this launch was to make it easy for both large service provider customers and small entrepreneurs to enter the mobile VoIP market, Anthony Stiso, vice president of sales and marketing at Telinta, told MobilityTechzone at ITEXPO East 2014.

"TeliGlobe gives anyone opportunity to start their own VoIP business," Stiso said.  “There's no hardware and no software requirements. We're using the power of the cloud to give anybody the ability to become their own VoIP business."

TeliGlobe has three important features that make it attractive to VoIP service providers:

  • Automatic Configuration:  TeliGlobe is automatically configured when the end user logs in or simply scans a QR code.
  • Battery Life:  Push notifications enable the mobile softphone to conserve battery life when the app runs in the background.
  • Features: TeliGlobe offers a full range of features such as speed dial, call forwarding, call transfer, conferencing, call waiting, ring tone selection, address book integration, optional call recording, video calling and more. Dialed numbers can be automatically re-written to accommodate special dialing protocols around the world.  The app currently supports multiple languages.

TeliGlobe also makes user adoption easy – the solution can be downloaded for free by end users directly from the Apple App Store and Google Play.  The solution is integrated with Telinta's switching and billing capabilities and is managed via the same interface Telinta's customers are already using.

"We wanted to provide our customers with a mobile softphone solution that is not only robust in terms of features, but also is incredibly easy to get up and running," Stiso said.
