Actelis Networks is a company that is taking full advantage of existing copper networks to deliver high-speed broadband Ethernet services with fiber-like speeds. It is able to deliver speeds ranging from 15 to 400Mbps to those subscribers and end users who traditionally have been out of reach. Its patented product, EFMPlus with DRB technology, functions over existing copper network infrastructures.
Comtec A.S., which is part of the Biltam Group, is a technology and value added IT wholesaler, as well as being a provider of innovative solutions, services, and maintenance. The company operates and serves customers throughout Turkey and Northern Cyprus. It mostly works with small and medium sized companies, but its sectors also include government, railway, utilities, energy and finance.
On March 12 Actelis Networks announced that its newest value added reseller (VAR) is Comtec A.S. It will provide Actelis’ VDSL2 and G.SHDSL based Ethernet over the First Mile (EFM) over Copper and Broadband Amplifier based solutions to its customers.
Tuvia Barlev, the CEO of Actelis Networks, said, “The applications driving growth for service operators today require high performance broadband everywhere, not just where fiber is cost effective or microwave is easy. We open up new and more profitable revenue opportunities for service operators by enabling them to easily get scalable, reliable, high performance bandwidth to many of the places they need it throughout the metro today.”
Some of the advantages of being an Actelis VAR include the ability of enabling service operators to offer reliable MEF 2.0 standards-based N x 10 Mbps Ethernet services, scalable backhaul to 3G and LTE small cells and Wi-Fi hotspots, and high speed bandwidth to HD cameras and remote sensors.
In reference to this, Comtec A.S. executive Sait Ahtam said, “Comtec A.S. works with our customers to ensure their networks continue to be well aligned with market opportunity and support the efficient and profitable delivery of highly competitive services. Actelis gives us the tools to continue that tradition in an evolving market, getting more bandwidth to many more places more quickly and cost effectively.”
Actelis’ products will also be able significantly increase not only the distance but also the bandwidth capabilities of existing VDSL2 and ADSL DSLAMs and CPE from any vendor. This will enable higher speed broadband while being able to triple play services to be offered to many more residential subscribers over greater distances. By enlarging the customer serving area the DSLAM reaches, service operators can increase efficiency and profitability by reducing the number of smaller DSLAMs and backhaul links required.
Being able to extend these services in Turkey and Northern Cyprus will not only increase the profitability of the companies delivering the services, but the customers will also be able to take advantage of faster speeds. Small and medium sized enterprises need to take advantage of any opportunities that come their way and this definitely falls into that category.
