Rayovac is Redefining Power "On the Go"

In the past, I was constantly on top of keeping all my mobile devices plugged in, charged, and ready to go. Maybe it’s because I’m reaching the age of forgetfulness, or possibly it’s the age of not caring as much as I used to. The problem with either scenario is that sometimes I forget to charge my phone.

I’m sure that many people are the same way, you don’t remember this until you have to run out the door and no longer have the opportunity to charge you device, even if it is for only 10 or 15 minutes. This leaves you with a device that you can only use for a few minutes before the battery will register with zero power.

As we begin to get ready for summer, I don’t know if you can think back to the beginning of the year. At this year’s CES 2014 show in January, Rayovac announced that it would have several new portable charging products this year. Since that time, the conversation seems to have revolved around Rayovac redefining the mobile charging device category.

Actually, we can go as far back as November 2013 to see a glimpse of several new products from Rayovac. Last week, Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc., a diversified company established in 2005 as the successor company to Rayovac Corporation, announced what has been considered to be the highly anticipated Phone Boost 800 portable charging device.

Some of the characteristics of these new Rayovac products are sleeker, smaller designs that make each device the perfect size to store in purses, briefcases, and backpacks. After all, what good is a portable charger if it is too bulky or heavy to carry around comfortably? This device is small enough to be attached to a key ring.

In addition to the fact that these products are light and small, offering real portability, they also offer the capability of being used over and over again. The incorporation of rechargeable batteries allows users to purchase a more cost-effective device that will provide them with peace of mind all day long. What makes this possible is the fact that the charger utilizes a lithium ion rechargeable battery that holds 800mAh of power.

Rayovac’s latest mobile device charger, the Phone Boost 800 has been designed to offer robust power and performance. It can provide instant power for a variety of connections that include Micro USB, Apple 30-pin, as well as Apple Lightning devices. Both Apple versions are MFi, or Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad, Certified.

The lithium ion battery can recharge a mobile phone for 150 minutes of additional talk time, which is roughly 2.5 hours. The Phone Boost 800 can be recharged to power mobile phones, digital cameras, portable gaming devices, MP3 players, and other USB rechargeable devices.

At the beginning of the year, Harrison Smiddy, who is Senior Director of Marketing at Rayovac, said “Consumers today are relying on mobile devices in almost every aspect of their lives. Rayovac has developed a line of rechargeable portable devices that have been designed to help consumers stay connected at all times via their most important devices. We are very excited to have the opportunity to showcase our latest advancements to a global audience here at the Consumer Electronics Show.”

Now as these products are ready to go on sale both online and in stores, Smiddy added, “We’ve created a winning combination of leading-edge technology and user friendliness with these new portable power devices that make it easy for anyone to charge their favorite devices anywhere they choose.”

In addition to the Phone Boost 800, Rayovac is also making available two products that can keep your mobile devices powered up in the car or at home.  Rayovac’s Car and Wall USB Power Chargers have been designed with dual USB ports.

This will make it possible to charge two devices at the same time. If you are one of those, “on the go” people, you will be able to have a fully charged mobile device. These compact dual USB chargers have a maximum output of 3.4A and are compatible with all USB cables, including Apple Lightning, Apple 30-pin, Micro USB and Mini USB cables.

These products are not just for people like me who sometimes forget to recharge their devices. As more companies adopt BYOD policies, smartphones and tablets are being used constantly throughout the day. That means that these people will be going through their battery life pretty fast. Having these products be light weight, convenient and giving you an additional two plus hours of work time can only be seen as a good thing.
