Fox Innovation Lab Announces Global Partnership with Ericsson

20th Century Fox is determined to stay relevant in the 21st century and beyond, recently forming the Fox Innovation Lab as an initiative to accelerate the development of next-generation content and innovative viewing experiences for consumer devices. Video content is taking over as higher-capacity networks with faster data speeds continue to sweep the nation, and virtual reality is quickly becoming a reality thanks to the efforts of these sorts of forward-thinking entities.

The Fox Innovation Lab is a collaboration between 20th Century Fox and several technology companies that share this vision; communications technology specialist Ericsson recently announced that it is the latest to join this initiative as a preferred partner. Together, they will work on a wide range of projects to facilitate true connected content experiences in which consumers can purchase and view high-quality video seamlessly across a variety of platforms. In addition to mobile video and virtual reality technology, a major focus of the partnership will be on connected cars and homes as content becomes more and more integrated into people’s daily lives.

Danny Kaye, Executive Vice President of Global Research & Tech Strategy at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, and the Managing Director of Fox Innovation Lab, elaborated on the expansive opportunities opened up with the addition of Ericsson’s expertise, commenting on how, “Ericsson is one of the most progressive and largest mobile companies in the world, making them the perfect partner to realize the possibilities of the Fox Innovation Lab.”

20th Century Fox is a pioneer in the entertainment business, and the company’s huge audience reach and brand awareness will be a major asset in delivering these exciting services.

“We are constantly investigating and advancing strategies that leverage new technologies to take the movie experience beyond one screen, and Ericsson’s involvement will further our ability to deliver on this vision,” Kaye continued.

“It is a privilege to be chosen as a preferred TV and media solution provider involved in the Fox Innovation Lab and we look forward to jointly developing new video technologies and experiences that engage viewers in a much more compelling way,” said Per Borgklint, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Support Solutions at Ericsson.

Ericsson boasts an impressive solution portfolio featuring cutting-edge technology and next-generation business transformation services. Combining these assets with 20th Century Fox’s content delivery prowess is the perfect recipe for delivering amazing content to consumers who are hungry for dynamism, relevancy and seamless cross-platform experiences.
