Primo App Wants to Bring Free Communications to More Than Four Billion Users

Over-The-Top (OTT) communications service providers have completely disrupted the telecom industry, costing traditional operators billions just in SMS losses alone. The new Primo App looks to do the same to the OTT providers by offering every communications option possible on a mobile device for free. According to the company, it is looking to bring free international communication to more than four billion phone numbers in the world.

The Primo App is going to provide app-to-app, app-to-mobile and app-to-landline voice, video, file sharing and messaging with a next generation communications solution that lets users connect with each other globally no matter what device or platform they are using.

Created by startup Primo Connect, Inc., a mobile communications company incubated by sister company Ultra Mobile, the app was created from the start to simplify the way people communicate by eliminating the need for multiple applications and device incompatibility.

As David Glickman, CEO of Primo Connect and sister company Ultra Mobile, put it, "Primo aims to achieve one simple task: connecting friends and family no matter where they are or what device they use."

The OTT companies in the market place such as WeChat and Snapchat, which are valued at $83.6 billion and $16 billion respectively, as well as WhatsApp which sold for $19 billion to Facebook are the most valuable apps. The OTT segment will grow even more as affordable smartphones enter the market place and replace regular mobile phones.

Primo Connect believes offering all of the communications options for free will give it a clear advantage over other OTT companies, who are not doing the same. Primo is the only one that offers free message, call, video, SMS and phone number for free whether they are calling apps, landline or mobile. WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Line, Viber and Skype have a combination of free and paid option, and in some cases some are not even available.

Glickman added, "Primo goes far beyond previous messaging apps and their limitations, by offering free global communication to over 4 billion people. Our goal is to continue growing from there. We like to say that reaching half of the world is a great starting point."

Primo allows users to connect using cellular or data/ Wi-Fi in 66 countries, and it also offers users a free U.S. phone number, so they can stay connected no matter where they are in the world.

The Primo App is now available at the App Store and Google Play.
