LightSquared Selects Providers to Manage Wholesale Platform

LightSquared has chosen a renowned systems integrator and three established software solution providers to build and deploy its wholesale platform.

The company is currently building a nationwide wireless broadband network set to drive consumer choice and industry innovation.

LightSquared aims to revolutionize the U.S. wireless industry, and has achieved an important milestone in the development of its network with this announcement.

Once completed, this wholesale platform will enable LightSquared's partners to provide critical customer management services to their end-users.

Wipro Technologies (WIT), a global specialist in IT services and consulting has been chosen as LightSquared’s technology partner for systems integration and managed services.

Both companies, Wipro and LighSquared, have selected three key components for its platform including Provisioning and Activation; Real-Time Usage and Credit Management; and Rating and Billing.

Evolving Systems (EVOL) will provide Provisioning and Activation, and this will enable LightSquared's partners to activate and provision end-users on the network.

Openet will provide Real-Time Usage and Credit Management, and this will enable LightSquared’s partners to manage their own customers' network usage and credit in real time.

Finally, Convergys will provide Rating and Billing and this will enable LightSquared to invoice its partners at a wholesale level based on aggregate usage.

"We're continuing to establish the essential components of our nationwide network," said Sanjiv Ahuja, chief executive officer of LightSquared. "We recently announced our radio access network deployment plan and now continue with the selection of best-of-breed solutions from the industry's leading Business Support Systems vendors. With the help of Wipro, we've selected three leading companies that will help ensure the success and seamless operation of our unique wholesale-only platform."
