Allot Deploys Allot Service Gateway Solution for a Major European 4G Rollout

Allot Communications, a supplier of service optimization and revenue generation solutions for fixed and mobile broadband service providers and large enterprises, announced the deployment of its Allot Service Gateway solution.

According to officials the deployment was carried out for a major European operator’s 4G rollout as it will enable the operator to provide a fixed network alternative. The LTE rollout incorporates network intelligence as an integral part of the LTE architecture.

This enhances data delivery at rates up to 100Mbps besides helping in the implementation of value-based charging and the provision of innovative service plans.

In a release, Rami Hadar, Allot’s President and CEO, said, “LTE network operators have learned a lesson from their 3G predecessors.”

“Rather than upgrading, they are now building out their networks as smart pipes from the outset. The requirement for value-based charging models is amplified by subscribers’ unquenchable demand for bandwidth and a new generation of data-hungry applications, as well as the service providers’ need to find new ways to monetize their networks Allot’s access-agnostic solution is designed to allow the operator to seamlessly maintain the same innovative approach to charging across all of access, including 3G, LTE and fixed networks,” Hadar added.

Allot is a member of the 3GPP and is striving to evolve standards to enable commercial realities. Allot’s 3GPP compliant solution accurately identifies OTT (over-the-top) application traffic in real time at speeds of up to 160 Gbps per platform. Subscribers will hence benefit a lot from application and network intelligence that was not available to policy and charging systems.

The granular usage information enables operators to monetize network traffic suitably. The Allot solution enables services like premium video-caching and optimization, besides tailored packages, said officials.

Allot’s solutions leverage Dynamic Actionable Recognition Technology (DART) to transform pipes into smart networks to enhance deployment of value added Internet services. The company’s scalable, carrier-grade solutions provide the visibility, topology awareness, security, application control and subscriber management as needed for optimum Internet service delivery.

Allot Communications announced in May 2011 that a multinational mobile operator selected its intelligent charging solution, Allot ChargeSmart.
