NetAmerica Deploys 4G LTE Pilot Network Offering Mobile Broadband Service in Rural America

NetAmerica Alliance announced the deployment of its 4G LTE pilot network, which went live offering mobile broadband service in rural America.

NetAmerica Alliance is an alliance of independent carriers who have come together to build-out 4G LTE service in the carriers’ license coverage areas.  This alliance will enable the participants to synergize their strengths and realize cost advantages.  The participants will retain their independence while operating as one, explained officials.

Roger Hutton, chairman and CEO of NetAmerica Alliance LLC said in a release, “NetAmerica is solidly executing on the game plan it laid out prior to officially launching the alliance earlier this year.”

“The pilot network is providing members with the processes, procedures, and experience necessary to scale offerings in a commercial service.  While other carriers are talking about what they are going to do for rural customers, NetAmerica members are taking actions in a measured but aggressive manner to make 4G LTE service a reality,” Hutton added.

According to officials, NetAmerica members will leverage the pilot network to develop, test and refine operating methodologies before initiating commercial service. Pilot users will benefit from downlink data speeds of up to 28 Mbps and uplink data speeds of up to 13 Mbps.

Also pilot users are trialing fixed and mobile data services in the 4G LTE network using PC dongles to test high-speed mobility across the network. They will be able to trial a customer premise device in their home or business later.

4G/LTE is considered as the technology which will become imperative for the future of telecommunications.  Many large carriers are trying to offer 4G enabled services based on LTE technology to metropolitan markets.  Besides, independent carriers have been offering optimum edge services to their communities for a long time now. It is expected that the NetAmerica Alliance will help them to continue serving the communities better.

The services offered by NetAmerica provides buying power, nationwide branding, marketing and training programs, a network operations center, core networking elements, applications development and nationwide roaming arrangements.

NetAmerica Alliance announced recently that it received the Rural Cellular Association’s annual “Excellence in Marketing” award in both the TV commercial and print categories. RCA is an association for competitive wireless providers serving rural and regional areas of the United States. The licensed service area of RCA’s more than 100 members covers 95 percent of the United States.
