Data Outage Keeps Verizon Wireless 3G/4G Networks Out Of Service

CNET news reports that Verizon Wireless is experiencing data outage in most parts of the country. As a result, the 4G LTE service, as well as 3G, is down and customers are unable to access the carrier. Consequently, unhappy customers are posting comments on Verizon support forum and the carrier’s support Twitter feed.

Some of the comments from the forum site were reported by CNET reporter Lance Whitney, who also occasionally writes for MobilityTechzone.com. As per this report, customers are writing that Verizon’s data service has been out of commission as of late Tuesday night. One comment on the  Verizon's forum site stated, “I'm in Denver, CO. Service went out at 1am MST - it's 5am MST and still no data.”

Another wrote, “Not getting any data in Port Townsend, WA. I have tested on both a Galaxy Nexus and a Droid RAZR. Have done the whole rebooting thing, still nothing. Thankfully I'm at home and have Wi-Fi.”

According to Whitney’s report, a few 4G customers have managed to access the data network by switching over to 3G CDMA. But, many 3G customers are also complaining about similar problems. Whitney wrote that some of the patient customers who got connected to Verizon’s phone support line were not satisfied with the answers.

Even though the carrier was aware of the problem, it had not yet resolved the issue, wrote Whitney. One user who spoke with a Verizon Wireless customer support representative, wrote, “As of 6:28 AM Eastern time, they are confirming a nationwide outage affecting all 4G phones, and to expect little to no network connectivity. There is no ETA for resolution, of course.”

Likewise, according to CNET report, Verizon also did not immediately respond to the reporter’s request for comments.

As per this report, this is the second time in a month that Verizon's data network has been out of service.  On December 6th, the carrier’s 4G network was down due to intermittent outages. It took Verizon more than a day to fix that glitch, wrote

Meanwhile, eWeek reported that some East Coast customers were reporting that 3G service had been restored as of 8 AM, Wednesday, December 21.
