Skiers, Snowboarders Get Big Air on Enhanced Verizon Wireless Network

In the Green Mountain state of Vermont there is a new destination- Sugarbush Resort- for skiers thanks to Verizon Wireless’ increased 3G network coverage in and around Sugarbush Resort. Now winter sport enthusiasts can enjoy network coverage, rugged devices and outdoor apps. Verizon Wireless is a provider of enhanced telecommunications services to its customers. Verizon Wireless recently earned recognition from J.D. Power and Associates for ranking highest in customer care among the major national wireless phone service providers.

Excitement about the enhanced 3G coverage spread quickly. Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin called Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley from the news conference to announce the new cell site and invited his southern neighbor north for some New England downhill skiing.

Verizon Wireless has increased 3G network coverage in and around Sugarbush Resort, including the town of Warren. With a new cell tower in place, ski and snowboard enthusiasts can stay in touch with enhanced 3G network coverage around the main Lincoln Peak area and surrounding condominiums, the Sugarbush Golf Course and the German Flats area, as well as other parts of Warren.

In addition to ongoing investment in its 3G network, Verizon Wireless continues to roll out its 4G LTE network nationwide. The 4G LTE network is currently available in 190 markets, including Albany, Buffalo, Glens Falls, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Orange County, NY, Poughkeepsie-Kingston, Utica-Rome and the New York City area. Full nationwide 4G LTE deployment is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2013.

In other news, Verizon landline customers in California have donated $52,000 to four nonprofit groups promoting literacy, including the Assistance League of Covina Valley, which was awarded the top grant of $25,000. The donations are part of the Verizon Check Into Literacy program, which allows Verizon landline customers to check a box on their bill to make a $1 tax-deductible donation each month to support a local literacy program.
