Xelerateds Offers Flexibility for Network Equipment Vendors with FTTx Access Solution

In a bid to allow network equipment vendors (NEVs) and carriers to make use of a unified Ethernet-based FTTx access solution, Xelerated has announced the AX family of programmable wirespeed Ethernet switches.

As network-equipment vendors continue to look to extend into the fiber access market, companies such as Xelerated can join hands with them and use their existing tier one customer base in Carrier Ethernet.

By combining products such as AX family with programmable packet processing, they can approach more customers with a more durable and significantly enhanced Carrier Ethernet infrastructure.

A unified Ethernet-based FTTx access solution can be used for Active Ethernet, EPON, GPON, 10G PON, LTE and WiMAX, using a single design.

Along with high quality IPTV and Video-on-Demand, the AX family also provides a 100 Gigabit-ready series based on Xelerated’s patented dataflow architecture. The AX family of access switches consists of AX340 series – 50 G duplex, 12x10GE, 56xGE optionally with advanced Access; AX310 series – 50 G duplex, 12x10GE, 56xGE; AX240 series– 25 G duplex, 6x10GE, 28xGE optionally with advanced Access; and AX210 series– 25 G duplex, 6x10GE, 28xGE.

“For several years we have been working with tier 1 carriers and NEVs to find the right trade offs in terms of cost, performance, power, scalability, reliability and flexibility,” said Thomas Eklund, vice president of marketing and business development for Xelerated.

“Endorsed by leading tier one carriers we are pleased that it serves as such a flexible, cost-effective alternative for access and enterprise systems.”

With the AX family, it’s also easier to adapt to carrier requirements and new access standards, such as DSL Forum WT-201 (TR101) and WT-145.
