Rotterdam, Holland -- O2 and Toshiba
have selected Nimbuzz as their social messaging partner in Germany. The native, preinstalled version will be available the Toshiba TG01 smartphone that O2 will launch using a series of promotional events at its flagship stores in Munich and Berlin as well as a full marketing campaign.
Germany is the largest mobile market in Western and Northern Europe in terms of absolute subscriber base. Penetration in a population of 85M is currently 95 percent; O2’s market share is 25 percent.
The TG01 employs a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset and it has a 4.1-inch screen. The spin is that the ability to employ Nimbuzz services on this powerful handheld device matches the needs of “super-connected” users by bringing video, gaming and social networking experiences from the PC to mobile. Access is enabled via a central icon on the home screen.
