Ericsson, Stockholm, Sweden-based provider of technology and services to telecom operators reportedly
announced that won the 2009 LTE Visionary Award for its Converged Packet Gateway at
Technology Marketing Corporation’s 4G Wireless Evolution Conference program. The award was presented in with Crossfire Media.
The 4GWE LTE Visionary Award recognizes the planning and vision of delivering wireless broadband services.
A part of Ericsson’s Evolved Packet Core offering, CPG lets operators offer cost-effective broadband services to fixed and mobile subscribers. The gateway has been integrated into the world's first LTE offerings from Verizon, TeliaSonera and MetroPCS.
"Ericsson's achievements in advancing 4G through LTE development is worthy of being selected as recipient of the 4GWE LTE Visionary Award," said Carl Ford, co-founder and community developer, Crossfire Media, in a statement. "Ericsson is an innovator and one to watch for the next evolution of solutions."

Powered by Ericsson's proven 480Gbit/s throughput SmartEdge 1200 platform, CPG supports mobility between LTE and interworking with WCDMA/GSM networks as well as non-3G access networks, such as fixed wireless and Wireless LAN. This ensures seamless implementation and transition to a common core network for mobile and fixed broadband.
