Citrix Provides Rich Content Editing with ShareFile Apps for Mobile Devices

Citrix is a cloud computing company that gives users the ability to work and collaborate on mobile platforms by accessing apps and data with reliability and security. The Citrix ShareFile apps allow rich content editing, productivity and collaboration for the iPad and iPhone, with support for other devices coming soon. The editing capability of the app gives the user tools to edit Microsoft Office documents and annotate Adobe PDFs even if the device is not connected.

Using the Citrix ShareFile gives organizations a secure file sharing environment that is controlled by the IT department. As bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies increasingly become the norm, using a third party document viewing tool can put mobile device and the company network at risk. Citrix creates products that are in use by more than 260,000 organizations and over 100 million users around the world.

The editing capability allows the user to create, review and edit Microsoft Office documents with tools such as editing text, track changes, spell check, print and present in slideshow mode.

The security measures for the app include remote wipe, encryption, passcode lock and a poison pill features to give IT personnel the ability to secure corporate content on mobile devices that are connected to company network. The IT department can control third-party editors so company data won’t be stored in them.

The folder and sub-folder can be retained on the mobile device with the option of marking them for offline access. Any changes made to the folder such as updates to files in the folder will be synced ensuring all the content is updated. The company said documents will be available today to enterprise customers who made a request from Citrix and offline access to folders is available for everyone.
