Eton Corporation Releases New External Mobile Chargers

Etón Corporation, a maker of radios and several device accessories, just recently debuted its new Boost mobile chargers: the Boost 4200, Boost 8400 and BoostTurbine 4000. Etón's Boost line is composed of several portable charging units that are capable of charging mobile devices while on the go. The new products were unveiled at the end of last month at Summer Outdoor Retailer 2013.

Out of the new products it introduced, perhaps the most interesting one is the BoostTurbine 4000, which has joined the two other products in the BoostTurbine line. This innovative charger is the only one of its kind, sporting a hand crank for emergency backup power. If both your phone and the charger are on their last drops of juice, you can still make that important phone call after cranking it up manually.

The new BoostTurbine 4000 has double the capacity of its predecessor, the BoostTurbine 2000. As the name suggests, the 4000 has 4,000 milliamp hours (mAh) of capacity, making it able to fully charge most smartphones twice. Its 5-volt/2.1-amp USB port can charge any device that uses a USB cable, such as a tablet, smartphone or media player. Cranking this beast for one minute will give you approximately four minutes of talk time. Your mileage will vary depending on the overall power consumption of your device, which is relatively uniform among mid-range and high-end tablets and smartphones.

Along with the BoostTurbine 4000, there are now two new Boost products, namely the 4200 and 8400. Both of their names, much like the BoostTurbine 4000, indicate how much capacity they reserve, in milliamp hours. Aside from the obvious features expected from an external USB charger, the Boost 8400 sports two 5V/2.1A USB ports, making it possible to charge a smartphone and a tablet, two tablets, or two smartphones simultaneously. Because of its high capacity, it can charge the average smartphone four times.

The new Boost products continue Etón's tradition of making lightweight and portable aluminum chargers, providing a discrete and powerful mobile on-the-run charging experience.
